Free Guided Hike on Mt. Diablo This Sunday
Sunday marks the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. Make the most of the daylight by hiking in nature

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Are the holidays making you stressed and a little crazy? Escape into nature this Sunday with a free, guided hike courtesy of the Mount Diablo Interpretive Association (MDIA).
The Winter Solstice Saunter will take place from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. During this four-and-a-half-hour, six-mile hike, participants will search for signs of the season, including mistletoe, Christmas berry and sturdy boughs of Coulter pines, renowned for possessing the heaviest cones of any pine tree.
Meet at the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center. Be sure to bring liquids, lunch, and snacks. Dress in layers and wear hiking shoes.
