Huge Crowd and Hot Weather is Expected For Sunday's Walnut Festival Run
One of the city's favorite traditions is taking place Sunday morning beginning on Main St.

Despite temperatures expected to be near triple digits on Sunday, the Walnut Festival Run for Education is still expected to attract a huge crowd of runners ready to test their endurance for a great cause.
Since the early 1950s, runners have flocked to this annual Walnut Creek event. Sunday's race will feature a 5k and 10k course.Â
The race begins at 8 a.m., but participants are urged to arrive early and make their way toward the starting area.Â
The course starts at 1201 Main St. in front of Lulumon. This portion of Main St. will be closed to traffic, and runners can register the morning of the race. Runners will head north to Civic Dr., turn right and go to Broadway, turn right and head toward the turnaround point near Rudgear Rd. 5k runners will head toward the finish line at Broadway Plaza, while 10k runners will make another loop around the course.Â
