Hurricane-Force Wind Gusts Hit East Bay

BAY AREA, CA - If you thought the wind was going to tear the roof off your house last night, there were some gusts that were nearly powerful enough.

A category one hurricane requires sustained winds of 74 mph. The peak wind gust on Mt. Diablo Thursday night was 76 mph.

Las Trampas and Point Potrero both clocked wind gusts of 64 mph.

In the entire Bay Area, the strongest wind gust, 83 mph, was recorded in Los Gatos.

The peak gusts were all recorded between 8 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.
