Jerome M. Laughlin, Walnut Creek Financial Planner, Dies At 88

A man who loved his family and community, Laughlin chose a life filled with gratitude. His funeral plans are set.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Jerome M. Laughlin, Age 88, of Walnut Creek, CA, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2019.

Jerry was born in Cleveland, OH to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Laughlin on December 16, 1930. He graduated from St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, NY with a major in English. He was a veteran of the Korean war and served in the Army as a 1st lieutenant and was awarded the UN Service Medal, Korean service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. On November 1, 1969 he married Judith A. Stodola in CA. He enjoyed a long career as a self-employed Financial Planner for 50 years.

Jerry is survived by Spouse Judith A. Laughlin, Daughter Jennifer L. Chapman (Marc Chapman), Son William R. Laughlin, Granddaughters Avery L. and Kaia L. Chapman and many wonderful Nieces and Nephews.

Jerry was the perfect example of a life lived to the fullest. Swimming 30 laps a day, practicing mediation and choosing a life filled with gratitude was always at the center of his daily routine. Although he never had a mental illness, he believed in taking care of one’s self and knowing when to ask for help was of utmost importance. Jerry generously supported the local community for over 50 years while living in Walnut Creek and loved seeing people thrive. He enriched as many lives as possible with his love and positivity.

A Celebration of Life and funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, November 18, 2019 at San Damiano Retreat House located at 710 Highland Dr, Danville, CA 94526.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in Jerry Laughlin’s name to be made to NAMI the National Alliance of Mental Illness of Contra Costa. With your support, may Jerry’s spirit continue to help those in need.
