Kids And The Law: Contra Costa Public Law Library Has Info For Parents

The Contra Costa County Public Law Library, with branches in Martinez, Richmond and Pittsburg, has two free brochures published by the California Bar Foundation to help youth and their parents with their questions about the law: “Kids & the Law: An A-to-Z Guide For Parents”and “When you turn 18: A Survival Guide For Teenagers.”

These publications cover important topics affecting kids such as:

· Bikes and skateboard laws

· Laws affecting young drivers

· Curfew laws

· Laws about drugs, smoking and alcohol

· Sexting, cyberbullying and social media laws

· School suspension, expulsion and truancy laws

Each branch has computers available to find information about juvenile law in Contra Costa County (http://www.cc-courts.org/) and from the state (http://www.ca.gov/HomeFamily/ChildrenFamilies/index.html).Library Director Carey Rowan in Martinez, can also help you with specialized research about juvenile law.
