Major Brawl Breaks Out On Main Street Early Sunday Morning

A fairly major brawl occurred in the wee hours of Sunday morning, which involved 10 officers responding to the scene at the Modern China Café, 1525 Main St.

According to one witness, “there were tons of cops and people fighting, blocking Main Street.”

According to Walnut Creek police, the fight began in the restaurant shortly before midnight between some customers and security guards. Though no one could describe the cause of the fight, it apparently escalated to the point where one of the waitress staff was hit.

By the time officers arrived, the main suspects had already run away. Though several people involved had been drinking, no one was arrested. None of the victims were able to identify their assailants.

The fight resulted in several minor injuries, but no one was seriously hurt.

The fight was witnessed by numerous people, several of whom called 911.

“That is obviously the right thing to do,” said Lt. Steve Gorski.
