Four men and three women, all apparently in various states of non-sobriety, were reported fighting near an elevator on the 500 block of Ygnacio Valley Dr. Police arrived and brought peace to the scene.

A man in a store on the 1100 block of S. California Blvd. was reported to be screaming that he was in pain. Police arrived and discovered the man had two outstanding warrants, and was taken to county jail in Martinez. Perhaps he should have suffered in silence.

A woman in a restaurant on the 1400 block of Mt. Diablo Blvd. enjoyed a fine meal, but didn’t enjoy paying the establishment for same, so she left. Police later picked her up and brought her to county jail in Martinez for being drunk in public and having two outstanding warrants.

Animal lovers rejoice. Police responded to the call of a fawn stuck in a fence and crying on the 100 block of Castle Rock Dr. A buck was standing nearby as officers freed the deer and it was released back into the wild. Great job, officers.

A fight between two kids erupted when an 11-year-old boy walked into the girl’s room on the 1100 block of Ygnacio Valley Dr. A girl who was in the bathroom at the time pushed the boy against a wall. Police arrived and put an end to the conflict.

A man on Bradley Ave. reported that he gave a person on the phone who claimed to be a lawnmower repair person the PIN number of his pre-paid debit card for some repair work. That repair work never happened, but $300 from the card disappeared. Note to everyone: first get the work done, then pay for it.

A middle-aged white male adult was seen stumbling around Newell Ave. He was found to be intoxicated and given a ride to county jail in Martinez.

A man was arrested for theft at Broadway Plaza.

An alert neighbor reported three people she didn’t recognize entering a home on Brubaker Dr. Police arrested one of the people for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

In a brazen daylight theft, a man walked into a store on the 1800 block of N. Main St. and ran off with a mountain bike. The man, a white male in his 20s, was wearing a red hat and jacket. 

In a road rage incident that could have turned deadly, two cars on N. Main St. were seen racing each other and driving recklessly, until one hit the other, then both got out and started yelling. Both returned to their cars and resumed chasing each other.

A wallet, glasses and credit cards were stolen from a car on Wiget Lane.

A trailer and generator the city rented for an event on Broadway Plaza was reported stolen. It turns out that the trailer and generator had been moved by the city to Bothelo Dr.

Police explained that it was time to go to jail to a man they arrested for stealing a $1,500 watch from Nordstrom. A watch that expensive almost seems like a crime itself.

Seven laptops were reported stolen from a school on Cedro Lane.

Brass sprinkler heads were stolen by a middle-aged white male adult with a backpack from a building on the 100 block of Pringle Ave.

A man described as a homeless white male entered the Trinity Center and left with someone else’s bike.

A car was stolen from Sunnyvale Ave.

A smash-and-grab from the 2700 block of Buena Vista Ave. resulted in the loss of a purse and a work bag.

A man who was being treated for alcohol-related problems walked out of Kaiser Permanente went into a nearby liquor store, stole a bottle of alcohol and locked himself in the bathroom, where he promptly drank the bottle down. He was transported via ambulance back to Kaiser, where he was about to be released, before police stepped in and took him instead to county jail in Martinez.

A man who was first described as “scooting on his bottom” across the street, and then was sitting in the middle of S. Broadway, managed not to get hit by a car, but did manage to wind up being booked in county jail in Martinez for public drunkenness.

A resident of the 1700 block of Second Ave. reported shots being fired near his home. Police investigated and discovered that a visitor from another state, unaware of the laws prohibiting fireworks in the city, was shooting them off by his uncle’s pool.

On the 1900 block of Tice Valley Rd., someone opened an unlocked car and stole a bag that contained about $15 worth of towels and $10 worth of vegetables. In the criminal world, that is called a disappointing haul. Enjoy those vegetables, thief.

A Trimble Navigation Survey Radio was stolen from Sutherland Dr. Whatever that is, it sounds expensive and important.

A woman on the 600 block of Persimmon Rd. told police that a man kept calling and asking her out. She was afraid to tell him no, so the police called the man, who turned out to be an elderly gentleman who thought he was calling someone else. File this under “oops.”

A woman in Target on N. Main St. dropped her wallet and video surveillance captured a person behind her picking it up. The wallet was mailed back to her the day before the woman filed the police report. Humanity is alive and well.

Two roommates on Normady Lane wound up in the hospital after assaulting each other over a fight regarding garbage pickup.

Two teenagers on Broadway Plaza were sent to Kaiser Permanente for alcohol poisoning. Parents were notified and the kids were treated.

A white male adult in his 20s was reported riding his bike in boxers and acting strange on Ygnacio Valley Rd. Police investigated and it turns out the young man was practicing polo with a broom and basketball, which apparently is not a crime.
