WALNUT CREEK, CA — From Walnut Creek City Hall to the White House, Tuesday’s election is crucial. Voters have marked their ballots for their chosen leaders, on tax measures, and proposals that will shape California for generations to come.

Walnut Creek is selecting three city council members from a field with dramatically different viewpoints.

More than 675,000 people are registered to vote here in Contra Costa County, according to the latest voter registration numbers from Secretary of State Alex Padilla's office.

"We have had a surplus of workers for months," said Scott Konopasek, assistant registrar of voters in Contra Costa County. "People have been selfless in their willingness to serve this election. We have turned down hundreds of volunteers."
