Sprouts: Canine Gym/Social Club Comes to Walnut Creek

Dog training, agility, and socializing are offered at Walnut Creek's Zoom Room.

The Zoom Room: it sounds like a new Walnut Creek nightclub that features exotic cocktails and young people dancing to the latest Dub Step track. But it's a really a new place for dogs and owners to gather and socialize, work out, and (at least for the dogs) learn obedience.

Opening on Aug. 3, the Zoom Room describes itself as "celebrating the social aspect of dog ownership." It also calls itself a "dog agility center," and "a sporty canine gym that offers agility training, innovative group classes, and an unparalleled selection of treats, toys, and pup supplies."

Opening day festivities include Intro to Agility classes for the discounted fee of $5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone interested in attending a class should RSVP to reserve a spot. In the afternoon, it's a Doggy Disco® party from 4:00-7:00 p.m. where owners and their dogs can enjoy a tricks contest and complimentary snacks of the human and canine variety.
