Tips To Keep Cool In Walnut Creek This Weekend

Summer heat has arrived. Follow these tips for safety.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Walnut Creek is in the midst of a heat wave with temperatures hovering around 100 degrees on Sunday.

While the City is not planning to open cooling centers, Emergency Preparedness Manager Megan Stephenson recommends that residents take extra precautions in reducing exposure:

• Drink extra fluids
• Limit outdoor strenuous activities
• Help elderly, kids, and pets stay cool
• Wear protective clothing
• Don’t leave children or pets in parked vehicles even with the windows down
• Seek air-conditioned buildings (libraries, community centers, and other indoor spaces)
