Walnut Creek City Manager Fined For Reporting Violation
Ken Nordhoff was fined $200 for failing to report a restaurant outing in 2010 while he was working in San Rafael

A state agency has fined Walnut Creek City Manager Ken Nordhoff $200 for failing to report a dinner paid for by a Los Angeles-based investment firm when he worked for the city of San Rafael.
Nordhoff and current San Rafael City Manager Nancy Mackle were cited for a dinner they attended that was paid for by De La Rosa & Co. on Jan. 28, 2010, according to a story in the Marin Independent Journal.
The public officials and company representatives ate at San Francisco’s Waterfront Restaurant and Cafe, the report said.
Mackle told the Independent Journal the dinner followed the closing of a bond project.

Nordhoff was San Rafael city manager at the time and Mackle was deputy city manager.
Public officials are required under state law to report any gifts valued at $50 or more by the California Fair Political Practices Commission.

Nordhoff said he would have no comment on the fine.
Mackle said she was unaware the dinner needed to be reported. Her food was valued at $127.16.
"I messed up. I should have reported it. I had no idea it was over $50 in value," Mackle told the paper.
