Coroner Identifies Elderly Man Killed In Walnut Creek Crash
The crash happened Thursday morning.

WALNUT CREEK, CA —A man who died after his car crashed into a ditch in Walnut Creek on Thursday morning has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as 82-year-old Alamo resident Stanley Mehlhoff.
The crash was reported at about 10:30 a.m. and involved a Volkswagen sedan that crashed into the ditch near Danville Boulevard and Rudgear Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers arrived to find Mehlhoff unresponsive in his car. He was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

CHP officials said investigators determined the Volkswagen was traveling west on Rudgear Road and for some reason drove through the intersection with Danville Boulevard and went off the roadway.
