Walnut Creek Design Review Commission Seeks to Fill Vacancy

From the City of Walnut Creek: Applications are being accepted for a vacancy on the City of Walnut Creek's Design Review Commission (DRC). The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 28.
The candidate must be a registered landscape architect and registered voter, but need not live in Walnut Creek.
The Design Review Commission is established to develop and enforce design standards, policies, and practices that promote aesthetics, encourage economic vitality, and enhance the design of the City’s built environment.

The Commission meets twice per month on the first and third Wednesday of each month; occasionally it may be necessary to hold a special meeting.
This is a five-member volunteer commission appointed by the Walnut Creek City Council. Two members must be residents of the City and three members must be registered architects, one of whom must be a registered landscape architect. The architects need not be residents of the City.

The current opening on the Design Review Commission is to fill an unexpired term ending March 5, 2018. The newly appointed Commissioner will then be eligible for a subsequent appointment to a first full term of four years.
Applications are also available at the City Clerk’s Office, 1666 N. Main Street; by phone (925) 943-5818; and via e-mail at smartinez@walnut-creek.org.
Completed applications and the supplemental questionnaire must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 28. The City Council will select applicants for interview on July 5; and interviews and appointment will be held on the evening of July 18.
