Walnut Creek Driver Killed In Early Morning I-680 Crash

The man was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his car.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — A Walnut Creek man, 20, died early Thursday after his car rolled over on I-680 in Sunol.

He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his Toyota during the crash, the California Highway Patrol said. The driver was hospitalized at Eden Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries, CHP said.

His name has not been released as officials work to notify his family.

The crash was reported just before 4:30 a.m. on southbound Interstate 680 north of Koopman Road. No other cars were involved and at least one lane was blocked as CHP responded.

The investigation is ongoing.
