Meet the new ice cream boss. (Same as the old ice cream boss...)

CONNECTICUT —Winning never gets old for Ferris Acres Creamery in Newtown. The ice cream destination has made it to the top of just about every frosty treat survey in the area, as well as winning its fair share of national acclaim. Now The Daily Meal website has named it best in Connecticut for 2020.

To find the best ice cream shop in every state, the food review site scoured online reviews, social media posts, local publications and word-of-mouth tips until they found the absolute best place to grab a scoop, sundae, or shake nationwide.

The creamery is just one aspect of Ferris Acres farm, which is a family-owned business, in spades. William David Baldwin Ferris, who bought the land in 1864, was a descendant of the first Ferris to arrive in Newtown around 1703. Every generation since has had at least one Ferris in the farming business.

With so much variety, it's inevitable that some of the flavors don't get all the love they deserve. Ferris named Chocolate Chip, Elvis' Dream (Vanilla with peanut butter swirls, bananas and dark chocolate chunks), and Toasted Almond (an almond based ice cream with toasted coconut) as the creamery's "most underrated flavors."

"One of our most recommended flavors is Razz Swirl Chunk," Ferris said. "It's vanilla ice cream with swirls of raspberry and dark chocolate chunks. It has a vanilla base, with chunks of chocolate, and raspberry swirls.

Noteworthy flavors cited in The Daily Meal's survey were Grasshopper — mint ice cream with crushed Oreos — and Bada Bing — chocolate almond ice cream with dark chocolate chunks and Bing cherries.
