CT Coronavirus Hospitalizations Continue To Fall Statewide

There are now 568 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Connecticut, the fewest since Nov. 9.

CONNECTICUT — All the numbers in the latest set of coronavirus data released by the state Department of Public Health are continuing to move in the right direction.

Hospitalizations dropped by 16 beds overnight. There are now 568 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in the state, the fewest since Nov. 9.

The daily test positivity is up slightly, just a tick above 2 percent statewide, after dropping to 1.58 percent on Wednesday.

During a news conference Thursday, Andy Slavitt, senior advisor for the White House coronavirus response team, commended Connecticut residents for the "incredible achievement" of driving down the positivity rate.

There were 20 coronavirus-related deaths reported, down from 27 the day before; the state total is now 7,496. Another 547 cases of COVID-19 were reported.

Vaccine

As of Thursday, 214,101 Connecticut residents have been fully vaccinated, having had both shots. That's just over 6 percent of the population. About 13 percent of the state has received the first dose.
