CT Coronavirus Positive Test Rate Dips Below Two Percent
Connecticut saw its lowest positive test rate in months and the weekly rate remains below three percent.
CONNECTICUT — Connecticut continues to see a sustained decline in coronavirus cases, positive test rates and hospitalizations.
The state saw an impressive 1.58 percent positive test rate Wednesday, which is the lowest daily rate since mid-October. The positive test rate over the past week is around 2.5 percent. There were 534 cases reported Wednesday.
Connecticut is thankfully not alone when it comes to cratering coronavirus case numbers. The country as a whole has seen a 43 percent drop in new cases in the past 14 days, according to the New York Times coronavirus tracker. The weekly case average is about the same as it was in early November.

Hospitalizations also saw another net decline in patients with a 22-patient drop Wednesday. That brought the total hospitalized to 584; the lowest since Nov. 10.
Coronavirus-related deaths jumped up to 27 Wednesday after a day of two deaths; the state total is 7,476. Gov. Ned Lamont noted Tuesday’s low number was likely due to a lag in reporting from President’s Day.
