CT Coronavirus Red Zone Map: 161 Towns Now Included
Last week all but three Connecticut communities were in the red zone for coronavirus infections; this week, there were eight.
CONNECTICUT — A total of 161 Connecticut communities out of 169 were in the state's red zone for coronavirus infections as of Monday. It was a slight improvement over last week, when 166 communities were in the red zone, which is the state's designation of areas at the highest risk for coronavirus transmission.
The only municipalities in the state that were not in the red zone this week were Salisbury and Woodbridge, which were in the orange zone, or medium-risk level; and Canaan, Colebrook, Cornwall, Scotland, Union and Warren, which were in the gray zone, or lowest-risk level.
Communities fall into the red zone when they have 15 or more daily coronavirus cases per 100,000 people over a two-week average. This week’s map is from test results between Dec. 6 and Dec. 19.

Connecticut health officials recommend the following for communities in the red zone:
- Individuals: Limit trips outside home, avoiding gatherings with non-family members. High-risk individuals should stay home.
- Communities: Cancel public events and limit community gathering points, alert residents via reverse 911 system.
- Organized group activities: Postpone all indoor activities. Postpone outdoor activities where mask wearing or social distancing cannot be maintained at all times.
- Prekindergarten-grade 12 schools: In collaboration with local health department and superintendent, consider more distance learning if cases are greater than 25 per 100,000 residents per day over a two-week average.
