CT Mask Use High, Some Hesitancy Over Coronavirus Vaccine: Survey

Around one in five Connecticut residents don't plan to get the coronavirus vaccine, according to a new survey.

CONNECTICUT — A new community survey found that many Connecticut residents personally know someone who was infected with the coronavirus. The survey also found mask use in public was high among Connecticut residents.

The DataHaven Community Wellbeing Survey was based on interviews conducted by the Siena College Research Institute. The survey was conducted in July and August.

Gov. Ned Lamont highlighted the survey results at his Tuesday news conference.

  • 33 percent aid they had a friend or family member who tested positive for the coronavirus.
  • 18 percent had a close friend or family member who was hospitalized.
  • 13 percent had a close friend or family member die.
  • 89 percent said they wear their mask often in public.
  • 87 percent said they believe employers have done enough to keep them safe.
  • 20 percent of people don’t intend to get the coronavirus vaccine. Another 17 percent are unsure.
  • 72 percent said they trust state government to look out for their best interests.
