CT Passes 7,500 Coronavirus Deaths

Coronavirus hospitalizations continued a sustained decline, but the state passed a grim milestone of 7,500 deaths.

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut continued to see lower levels of coronavirus infections heading into the weekend, but the state broke a grim milestone of more than 7,500 dead from the virus.

Another 27 coronavirus deaths were reported, which brought the state total up to 7,523.

Connecticut reported 1,198 new cases Friday and a 2.58 percent positive test rate — the state’s daily positive test rate.

There was a net drop of 33 coronavirus hospital patients Friday, which brought the total to 535 hospitalized. Net hospitalizations have come down sharply since the most recent peak in December and are currently around early-November levels.
