CT Weather: Next Snowstorm Chance Emerges In Our Forecast
The National Weather Service said major weather changes are on the way for Connecticut late this week and early next week.
CONNECTICUT — After a quiet weather start to 2021 things are about to get more interesting for Connecticut. The state saw a light snow accumulation on Tuesday and Wednesday morning with most places getting a couple of inches of snow and some receiving up to four inches.
A more powerful storm will head out to see on Thursday and miss Connecticut entirely, but our next snowstorm is already emerging in the forecast.
The National Weather Service said a snowstorm could impact Connecticut as soon as Sunday evening, though it is possible the "coastal storm" may arrive later on Monday too. Clearly, a storm several days away from Connecticut will evolve and many things will change.

And before we worry about the chance for more accumulating snow we'll see bitter cold move in on Friday and Saturday.
"Friday and Saturday will be one of the colder 2-day periods of the winter thus far, with temperatures both days not getting out of the 20s," the National Weather Service wrote in its forecasters discussion. "Overnight lows fall into the single digits and teens."

Connecticut could also see strong wind gusts Thursday night and Friday, possibly up to 40 mph at times.
More snow?
Forecasters say a coastal storm may impact Connecticut either on Sunday or Monday and temperatures are expected to be cold enough to support all snow, especially at the onset before there may be a changeover to mixed precipitation at the immediate coast.
One weather model shows the snow arriving in Connecticut on Sunday afternoon/evening while another model says there won't be any precipitation here until Monday night.
"Overall, this will be a system that will have to be watched for perhaps some winter weather impacts, but there is low confidence and high uncertainty with respect to intensity and (precipitation) type for the longevity / duration of the potential event," the weather service said.
Fox 61 chief meteorologist Rachel Frank and NBC Connecticut chief meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan shared some initial details about the potential next storm.
Storm nearby Monday-Tuesday of next week. The probability of 3"+ is greater than 50/50. That's actually pretty high this far in advance. I know what you're thinking...I'll believe it when I see it. I'm with you on that. #fox61 pic.twitter.com/dwWKWFP7Mm

Possible coastal storm early next week but there's a tremendous amount of spread in possible solutions. Miss, glancing blow, moderate event, and major snowstorm all on the table. We'll keep you posted. #nbcct pic.twitter.com/0kRq1qIjrc
