CT Weather: Heavy Snow Ends, More Snow In Forecast Tuesday

A fast-moving storm produced nearly 10 inches of snow in parts of Connecticut and more accumulating snow is forecast this week.

CONNECTICUT — A fast-moving snowstorm dropped nearly ten inches of snow on parts of Connecticut while other areas received three inches or less on Sunday afternoon. Snow broke out around 9 a.m. and began tapering off after 5 p.m.

Southern Connecticut received snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour on Sunday afternoon, which drove snow totals higher than anticipated. The winter storm warning for Fairfield and New Haven County was canceled at 6 p.m. One more inch of snow is possible in Middlesex and New London County through 9 p.m., the weather service said.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Hartford, Tolland and Windham County for an additional 1-2 inches before 1 a.m. Monday. No advisories remain for Litchfield County.

Another 1-3 inches of snow and sleet is possible on Tuesday across Connecticut. The snow and ice is expected to begin Tuesday morning and continue for much of the day. More snow is possible on Thursday too.
