CT Weather: Snow, Ice This Weekend; More Storms Next Week
Connecticut's run of awful weather in February continues with a series of storms beginning this weekend. Here's how much snow to expect.
CONNECTICUT — What a mess! The weather forecast for Connecticut for the next week features several chances for snow and ice.
The National Weather Service said the weekend storm doesn't appear too ominous. Light snow is forecast to start late Saturday, likely after 10 p.m. and continue through Sunday morning. The snow is expected to mix with sleet and possibly rain at the coast. A slushy 1-2 inches of accumulation is expected statewide, the weather service said.
Then some more light snow and sleet is possible Sunday night and on Presidents Day. No major accumulation is expected, but the icing could cause slippery spots on roads.

Northern Connecticut
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties for minor snow accumulations Saturday night into Sunday. The snow may change to a light freezing rain or sleet in northern Connecticut. A total of 1-2 inches of snow and sleet is forecast to accumulate by Sunday afternoon.
"A storm system may bring several inches of snow and/or mixed precipitation and ice to portions of southern New England, sometime late Monday night through Tuesday," the weather service said.
"Systems on Tuesday and Thursday may produce the most significant accumulations, with lighter precipitation amounts for the weekend into Monday. Brief dry weather for Wednesday. Below-normal temperatures are expected through midweek," the weather service says.
Southern Connecticut
The weather service said confidence is increasing on the potential for a more prolonged light mixed wintry precipitation event from Saturday night into early next week, with less of a break in between distinct weather systems.
The precipitation late Saturday and Sunday in southern Connecticut will be light, but it will feature both snow and ice. Up to an inch of snow and ice may accumulate, especially in inland areas of southern Connecticut.
And more light wintry mix is expected on Monday morning, which could cause slippery road conditions.
As for Tuesday, the weather service said, there is a chance for "accumulating snow" and then the precipitation may mix and change to sleet and freezing rain.
