Earthquake Felt Throughout Connecticut Sunday: Did You Feel It?
There were numerous reports of the ground shaking all across southern New England Sunday morning.

CONNECTICUT — An earthquake struck southern New England on Sunday, and it was felt by many residents in Connecticut. Some residents have reported their homes shaking for a few seconds and other slight tremors.
Gov. Ned Lamont confirmed there was a "slight earthquake" that was felt by "many here in Connecticut" on Sunday morning.
"We haven't received any reports of damage, but we will keep you updated," Lamont said.

The United States Geological Survey confirmed a 4.2 magnitude earthquake Sunday. The exact location of the quake was centered in the ocean between Mishaum Point and Potomska Point in Bliss Corner neighborhood of Dartmouth near Slocums Ledge in Massachusetts. The earthquake was about 15 kilometers into the ground and 9 kilometers from the shoreline, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
According to the survey, the earthquake could be felt as far west as Connecticut, in all of eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and even southern New Hampshire communities like Nashua, Salem, and Windham.

The tremors were felt shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday.
According to the survey, people throughout Connecticut have reported feeling the quake, especially in eastern and northern parts of the state. You can see the map here. You can also report that you felt it here.
Reaction from CT residents
Fox 61 Chief Meteorologist Rachel Frank said "That shake map is filling in quickly!! Many many people felt the 4.0 magnitude quake near New Bedford, MA this morning. Seems to be everyone but me."
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim said he felt the earthquake in Bridgeport.
NBC CT reports that some people in CT felt their homes shaking. Robin Meek, of Norwich, said in an email to Patch that "My neighbor and I just experienced our houses shaking our furniture shaking! For quite a few seconds Sunday, November 8th at 9:12 am."
Several other Patch readers said they felt the earthquake including in New London, Norwalk, Branford, Manchester, Wallingford, Groton, and Enfield.
Debbie Long Combs said she was in Preston and felt it. "I immediately thought we had an earthquake! My house shook for a few seconds," Combs told Patch.
Vicki Indrizzo-Valente said her house shook and the windows rattled in Mystic
Sharon Wulftange, of Glastonbury said, "I thought someone was either upstairs in my house or in my roof- it was the weirdest noise and feeling and couldn’t quite describe it! Thanks for sharing! Now I know why!"
Debbie Carson, of Ledyard, said her house was shaking for a few seconds, and Sandy Moynihan, also of Ledyard, said "I was aware of a rumbling that seemed large but not loud. I didn't have a clue that it was an earthquake!
Katherine A Whalen said she felt it in East Windsor and Joyce Echevaria, of Tolland said, "it was around 9:11 am I was in my bedroom when the bed began to shake and the vertical blinds on the window shook for about 15 to 25 seconds."
Sandra Bullock, of the Lymes, said she felt the ground rumble, house shake, knew it had to be an earthquake. What next 2020?
Carrie Reed,of Milford said she felt her house shake too. "3 seconds tops. weird for sure!!"
Mary Beth Mollica, of Westport, said she felt two tremors. Gerard Pacitti, of Stonington, said "I had just gotten back from a dog walk in Watch Hill when we felt it accompanied by an audible rumble. Our dog paused on the deck steps before climbing up. We're used to getting jolts from the nearby quarry. This was milder than those."
Stephanie Bolduc, of North Branford, said she was "sitting on my couch and it started to shake and I thought I was losing it till someone on Facebook asked if you felt shaking."
"I definitely felt it here in SW CT," said Betty Ann Rogers. "It was shortly after 9. I felt a jolt or rumble (through) my house. It only lasted for a second. I thought a car struck my house. I went out on my porch & looked to see what happened but didn’t see a thing. I’ve never felt anything like that before."
Residents in Cheshire, Fairfield and Oxford said they felt nothing.
