Emily Katrina Strelis, 38, of New Milford

NEW MILFORD, CT — Emily Katrina Strelis, 38, of New Milford and Seattle, WA, died recently in her home, having suffered health problems for some time.

Emily was born in Redwood City, CA on October 11, 1979 to Egils Strelis and the late Leilani Jane Krainer. Emily's family soon moved to New Milford, where she lived a happy childhood. She also enjoyed spending time in her mother's homeland, Tahiti, French Polynesia.

Emily graduated from New Milford High School in 1997, and later received her Bachelor's degree in English from the University of New Hampshire, with a minor in Communications. She went on to a much-loved career in sales.

Emily made Seattle her home as she fell for the city and the astounding beauty of the surrounding region. She was a charismatic and jovial person. From her passion for horses to her devotion to her Jack Russell Terrier, which she named Jack, Emily was also an animal enthusiast. She was equally concerned with humanitarian causes, becoming involved in local charity organizations.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Tahiti, where Emily's remains will be buried alongside her mother's. Please consider donations in her name to your local food bank or epilepsy research foundation.
