Register Now for the Penguin Plunge to Benefit Special Olympics

Sign up and get ready to jump in and make a splash to help Special Olympics! Registration is now open for Special Olympics Connecticut’s Penguin Plunge events in 2019 and 2020. The Penguin Plunge gives participants an opportunity to come together with friends and other warm-hearted individuals in their community to have fun and support a great cause. Participants jump into the chilly waters of a lake or ocean in an exciting, festive atmosphere and earn great incentive prizes by raising money online to support Special Olympics’ year-round sports, health and fitness programs for people of all abilities. Penguin Plunge events in 2019 and 2020 include the:

  • Guilford Loony Dook Penguin Plunge at Jocob’s Beach in Guilford on Saturday, December 14th
  • Farmington Penguin Plunge at Winding Trails featuring the Cool School Challenge in Farmington on Sunday, February 9th
  • Middletown Penguin Plunge at the Polish Falcons Club on Crystal Lake in Middletown on Saturday, February 29th
  • Winsted Penguin Plunge at Highland Lake in Winsted on Saturday, March 7th
  • Shoreline Penguin Plunge at the Ocean Beach Park in New London on Sunday, March 8th
  • Coventry Plunge at the Lake at Patriot’s Park in Coventry on Saturday, March 21st
  • Law Enforcement Torch Run Super Plunge at Westbrook Elks Lodge in Westbrook on Saturday and Sunday, March 28th-29th
  • Monroe Plunge at the Park at Great Hollow Lake in Monroe on Saturday, April 4th
  • Farifield Penguin Plunge at Jennings Beach in Fairfield on Saturday, April 4th

In addition to the chilling, thrilling Plunge into icy waters, event highlights will include music, refreshments, a parade of plungers and an awards ceremony. To join in, participants must achieve a fundraising minimum and be at least eight years old. Costumes and team outfits are encouraged. In addition to incentives that include apparel, there will also be awards for best costume, top fundraising individual and top fundraising group.
