Some State Parks Closed Due to Reaching Parking Capacity Saturday

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection closes parks to new visitors once the parking lot capacity has been reached.

CONNECTICUT — The start of a 3-day holiday weekend has produced sunny skies and temperatures approaching the mid-70s throughout much of Connecticut Saturday. As a result, many people are heading outdoors to enjoy the beautiful day, with many flocking to state parks.

Due to reaching capacity in their parking lots, several state parks have already been closed off by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Those parks, with the time the closures were reported, are:

  • Sleeping Giant, Hamden (10:30 a.m.)
  • Penwood, Bloomfield (10:59 a.m.)
  • Talcott Mountain, Simsbury (11 a.m.)
  • Kent Falls, Kent (11:22 a.m.)
