Stephen Colbert Pokes Fun At CT Presidential Primary
The Late Show host Stephen Colbert made a few jokes about Connecticut's late presidential primary.
CONNECTICUT — Connecticut has a few extremely close primary races, but the results of the presidential primary were a foregone conclusion long before primary day. Connecticut's primary was the butt of the joke on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Tuesday night.
“We will cover this Connecticut primary with the same breathless political horse race reporting that the media did back in February for Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina because if we do not, it means our primary system is fundamentally broken and some people’s votes are absolutely worthless,” he said.
Connecticut's primary was originally scheduled for April 28, but was postponed to June 2 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was again postponed to Aug. 11.

"No doubt my colleague Nora O'Donnell will be breaking in to report live from Manchester, Connecticut aka Silk City, once home to the world's largest silk mill, currently home to no less than 10 different Dunkin' Donuts locations," Colbert joked.
The Dunkin' Donuts joke wasn't hyperbole; Manchester is in fact home to 10 different locations for the coffee chain. That's about one Dunkin' location for every 5,700 Manchester residents.
