STORRS, CT — A University of Connecticut employee was arrested Thursday and charged with stalking and harassing two other UConn employees, Tolland State’s Attorney Matthew Gedansky said.

Tammi L. Zavickas, 55, a 14-year employee of the University of Connecticut Police Department, was arrested by a detective assisting the Tolland State’s Attorney’s Office on a warrant charging her with one count of second-degree stalking and one count of second-degree harassment, according to the announcement.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, an investigation showed that, for about a year, Zavickas was an "active participant" with her husband, UConn Police Officer Peter Zavickas, in the "stalking, harassment and photographing of two University of Connecticut Division of Public Safety employees by monitoring their movements while following them in their personal vehicle and also sending disparaging letters about the victims to uninvolved parties and to one victim’s residence."

According to the warrant, the investigation showed that between Sept. 30, 2019 and Oct. 21, 2020, Tammi Zavickas is accused of being in the car with Peter Zavickas on a number of occasions on campus, where they followed and photographed the victims while trying to avoid detection.

Tammi Zavickas is also accused of creating "disparaging letters" that were sent to one victim’s residence, according to the warrant.

"This has been a thorough investigation," Gedansky said. "It revealed that there was another party who assisted Officer Zavickas, and that happened to be his wife, a civilian employee of the University of Connecticut."

Peter Zavickas was arrested on Nov. 10 and charged with two counts of electronic stalking, two counts of second-degree stalking, two counts of third-degree computer crimes, two counts of fifth-degree computer crimes and second-degree harassment.

Tammi Zavickas was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Feb. 3, Gedansky said.
