4 Berlin Businesses Fail Alcohol Compliance Checks

Four local businesses failed a recent alcohol compliance check conducted by police.

BERLIN, CT — Members of the Berlin Police Department’s Investigation Division conducted sale of alcohol compliance checks and four out of eight local businesses failed the checks, according to police.

Those that failed included:

  • Top Shelf Liquors 300 New Britain Road
  • Turnpike Wine & Spirits 1943 Berlin Turnpike
  • Wine Merchants 717 Berlin Turnpike
  • Super Stop & Shop Supermarket 1135 Farmington Avenue

Employees at these businesses that were involved in illegal transactions were charged with misdemeanors for sale/delivery of alcohol to a minor, according to police.

"The enforcement is designed to encourage and confirm local businesses are being diligent in discouraging young adults from substance abuse, as well as ensuring businesses are adhering to long–established requirements set forth by the State of Connecticut," police said in a statement.
