Berlin 25, Windsor 22
The Berlin Bears A team opened their football season Sunday with a hard fought 25-22 victory over Windsor Sunday at Scalise Field.

Jack Lynch threw two long touch down passes to speedy Mitch Maslowski and Jack Hamel ran for the other two Berlin scores. Ricky Nappi had an excellent receiving day making seven catches for over 100 yards. The Bears offensive line was stellar the entire game led by Steven Bienkowski, Nick Lojko, Mike Paszczuk and Andrew Wusterbarth.
The Bears defense was able to shutout the high powered Winsor offense in the second half making several key stops late in the game to preserve the victory. Leading the defense was Nick Zuk Danny Labbadia, Spencer Duke, Greg Platosz, JJ Moss, Mark D'Amore and Matt Stapell.
The Bears travel to Glastonbury Sunday for a 11:00 AM game at Glastonbury High School.

B Team
Berlin 19 Windsor 6
The Berlin B1 team opened the football season today with an exciting win against the Giants of Windsor.
Berlin's first drive was capped off with a two yard touchdown run by Quarterback Sam Capodice. Capodice was able to punch the ball in with outstanding blocking from his front line James Mazzarella, Kevin Stafstrom, Tyler Tralli, Greg Carson, and Dominic Lattarulo. The extra point attempt was good with a pinpoint pass from Capodice to tight end Giancarlo Tufano to make the score 7-0.
The Giants were able to run off a score to make it 7 to 6, but were stopped short on their point after attempt when Tyler Dinkins broke through the line and blocked the kick.
Quarterback Capodice continued his passing accuracy when he hit Patrick Ladas on a forty two yard touchdown pass to make the score 13-6. They were stopped short on the point after attempt. The scoring continued in the fourth quarter when Capodice completed a 24-yard touchdown pass to Connor Giudice to make the score 19-6.
Windsor was held to only six points in the first half and they were shut out completely in the second half. The defense of Anthony Buccheri, Greg Carson, James Mazzarella, Dominic Lattarullo, Ryan Terlecky, Tyler Cop, Alex Halkias, Patrick Ladas, Matt Wojciechowski, Kevin Dunn, Tyler Dinkins, Tyler Burek, Giancarlo Tufano, Malachi Burby, Kevin Stafstrom, and Connor Giudice (interception), had an outstanding performance to lead the Bears of Berlin to victory.
The Berlin B1 team faces another tough opponent the Glastonbury Blue Tomahawks next Sunday Sept. 16th at 9 a.m.
The C and D teams lost to Windsor. The D team lost 21-0.
