“A modern and efficient transportation system is critical to growing our economy, attracting business, and creating new jobs,” Gov. Dannel Malloy said in a statement. “This new station in Berlin will help connect commuters who live in the area to cities and towns along the Central Connecticut corridor, making their daily trips easier and much less stressful. With the creation of the Hartford Line, we are building a future that allows our state to be much more competitive and attract the jobs of the future.”
The new station features high-level platforms on both sides of the tracks, elevators, an overhead pedestrian bridge, canopies covering approximately 50 percent of each platform, ticket vending machines, and a passenger information display system, according to a statement.
