Berlin High School Senior Wins Scholarship

A Berlin High School senior has been named a recipient of the Open Choice Program Mary Carroll-Kennedy Scholarship.

BERLIN, CT — Micah Alphonso, a Berlin High School senior, has been named a recipient of the Open Choice Program Mary Carroll-Kennedy Scholarship. This scholarship was established in 2002 in honor of Mary Carroll-Kennedy, the Open Choice Program’s founding director. The award provides financial assistance to Hartford Region Open Choice students attending a two- or four-year college or university.

Micah has been actively involved in a wide variety of extracurricular and community activities during her tenure at Berlin High School including multiple sports (basketball, track, and cross country), the Student Art League, Science Club, Unity Club, Random Acts of Kindness Club, Student Council, peer tutoring, and the Upbeat program. After graduation, Micah plans to study physiology and neurobiology at UConn Storrs.
