Baseball takes doubleheader from Bulkeley and girl's golf wins again.

By Rick Volk
Berlin swept a doubleheader from Bulkeley Wednesday at Sage Park.
In the first game, sophomore Jared Gallagher (3-2) struck out eight in six strong inning. The Redcoats broke the game open in the fourth inning on doubles by Alec Norton, Jordan Zima and Dave Condon. Two Bulkeley errors and hits by Anthony Sisti, Kyle Naples and Norton added further damage in a six-run outburst.
Senior Dan Wrona came on to retire Bulkeley in the 7th to seal the 10-1 victory.
In the second game, sophomore right-hander Dan Garafolo shut down the visiting Bulldogs in a complete game 4-1 victory, striking out six and scattering six hits.
A three-run Redcoat first inning was the offensive highlight. Consecutive singles by Mitch Williams, Dante Vasi, Jordan Zima and Dave Condon gave all Garafolo all the runs he needed.Â
Bulkeley's Angel Moreno held down the Redcoat offensive in check in the second game in dropping a 4-1 decision.Â
The Redcoats, now 11-7, face Maloney Friday in Meriden. This will be the teams’ first meeting since their 16-inning classic earlier this season at Sage Park.Â

Girl's Golf
Berlin 173, Simsbury 192
The Berlin Girls golf team extended its' season record to 15 wins against 1 loss by defeating Simsbury at Timberlin Golf Course 173 to 192. Simsbury is now 8-7 for their season. Â
The Lady Redcoats were led by Julia Kemmling who earned co-medalist honors with Mikayla Sheary of Simsbury. Both girls turned in well played rounds of 40. Closely behind the two medalists was Berlin Senior co-captain Caroline D'Attilio who carded her best round of the year, a very solid round of 42.  Berlins' scoring was rounded out by Emily Deutsch and Ashley D'Attilio who shot 45 and 46 respectively. Berlin is in action next on Monday at Simsbury. Â
"This team is very special but at the same time hard to figure out," Berlin coach Jim Barnes said. "We always seem to manage a very solid team score but I honestly can't tell you from match to match who is going to be the pleasant surprise of the day. Today we continued to get solid, consistent play from Julia but it was Caroline who jumped in with her best round af the year!  I know we are going to have a day when everyone is on but it really hasn't happened yet. I hope we are saving it for the CCC Tournament and States."Â
