BERLIN, CT — Berlin High School is pleased to announce that Mr. Christopher Wisniewski has been selected as the recipient of the UConn Early College Experience (ECE) “Rookie of the Year” Award for Excellence in First-Year Course Instruction. Each year, peers and students nominate high school UConn ECE instructors for their outstanding contributions in the classroom. These educators work tirelessly with students to achieve their individual and academic goals. With over 1,400 certified UConn ECE instructors there is a large pool of talented nominees but only 8 to 10 instructors are honored annually.

Mr. Wisniewski goes above and beyond the normal scope of what is expected of UConn ECE instructors. Through his dedication and creative approach to teaching and learning students have access to an authentic college level experience -- he takes a leading role in getting students accustomed to the rigor of a college level course in the Berlin High School setting. Chris has accepted the challenges and changes that have been made during this year of instruction to ensure that his students have a deep, rich, and immersive experience in science that is steeped in the principles of good logic and thoughtful experimentation.
