Berlin Planner Wants Clearer Sign Regulations
After a controversy over political signs earlier this year, town officials are discussing clarification of rules on signage.

Town Planner Marek Kozikowski said the town needs better rules on signs after political signs were removed leading up to Election Day, the Courant reported. Three posters called state House Republican candidate Steven Baleshiski a "racist, radical, bigtot" and were removed.
Baleshiski was the subject of controversy after a number of social media posts in which he attacked victims of the Parkland shooting. He later dropped out of the race.

Since then dozens of other, unrelated signs were removed due to regulations in state right-of-ways, according to the Courant. A debate about free speech and sign regulations was the topic of a lengthy discussion at a recent council meeting.
