Berlin Police Investigate Suspicious Bottles

A public notice from the Berlin Police Department:

The Berlin Police Department is investigating two separate incidents involving plastic bottles filled with substances, which produce a chemical reaction that causes the container to burst from pressure created by the reaction.

One was reported on Summit Wood Drive on July 6 and the other on Pond side Drive on July 10. In both instances, the bottles were discovered along the road near a mailbox or newspaper tube.

Residents are cautioned not to touch or move one of these devices if they find one as the mixing of the chemicals could cause the container to rupture. It is possible that injuries could result from chemical burns.

Anyone seeing one of these devices should immediately report it by calling 911.
