Berlin Police Release DUI Enforcement Results

The department conducted checkpoints to enforce DUI laws.

BERLIN, CT — Berlin police have released results from two DUI checkpoints from July along with roving patrols from July through September.

These checkpoints and patrols were funded by a grant awarded by the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Division.

The grant supports increased DUI detection and enforcement and provides 100% reimbursement of the overtime costs related to these efforts, according to a statement from police.

Results of the 2020 checkpoints:
Driving Under the Influence: 1
Fugitives Apprehended: 1
Suspended License: 5
Uninsured Motorists: 5
Speeding Violations: 32
Other Violations: 30
Total vehicles screened during roving patrols: 79
Total vehicles screened for impairment at checkpoints: 1533
