Berlin School Teacher Amy Kulak Celebrates 50 Years with the District

Various administrators have commented throughout her years in education, and there has been a positive theme to Amy's teaching.

Amy Kulak is being recognized for her fifty years in education, according to a press release. She began her career at Percival School in Berlin in 1965. She transferred to Griswold in 1967 and has been teaching in grade one this entire time.

If you know anything about 5- and 6-year-olds, you know that they can be exhausting. However, Amy continues to make their world an exciting place and approaches each day with a positive attitude and a willingness to do what it takes to make each student successful, the release says.

Throughout her years in education, there has been a theme to Amy’s teaching. Various administrators have commented:

  • In 1968 – “She is most sensitive to students’ needs.”
  • In 1971 – “Your listing of individual help (in your plans) reflects your attention to pupil differences – excellent.”
  • In 1984 – “Providing a great deal of practice in small groups and individually.”
  • In 1991 – “Mrs. Kulak is very accepting of all children of varying backgrounds and abilities and plans activities and lessons which allow for positive student interaction.”
  • In 1993 – “Your creative activities (along with your teacher-made learning materials) help every child succeed.”
  • In 2005 – “You know how to target a student’s needs and then instruct to meet those needs!”
  • In 2013 – “If a child is struggling, Mrs. Kulak uses every instructional minute to make certain that she provides him with the instruction that is needed to continue to make growth.”

Amy loves to learn, the release says. When reviewing her file, it was obvious that she took advantage of every learning opportunity that came her way.

Without listing the various trainings that she participated in, it’s important to know that she did whatever she could to make herself the best teacher possible, the release says. Her students, and her colleagues, were the beneficiaries of her thirst for knowledge.

“We are honored that Amy has dedicated these past 50 years to educating the children of Berlin,” the release says. “ We are fortunate to work with such a talented teacher.”
