Berlin Schools Will Have More Than A Few Spots To Fill

Willard Assistant Principal and Berlin High Band Director are both leaving.

The Berlin Public Schools are currently taking applications for a number of open positions but two stand out.

Willard Assistant Principal Lauren Feltz will leave her position and become the Principal at Middlebury Elementary School. She has been at Willard for three years.

The other job opening that pops out is Berlin Band Director Mark Bowling, who will leave to go back to his native land in Tennessee at the end of the school year.

"We have posted both of the jobs and will fill them as quickly as we can," Berlin Superintendent of Schools David B. Erwin said. "It is a tough economy so there are no shortage of applicants. I think as of today, we have 149 applicants for the Assistant Principal opening and 49 for the Music position."

Bowling gained popularity as the music director at BHS. When he told the students he was leaving at the end of the school year, the students were very emotional according to some of the band members.

"We are losing two great employees in those spots and we will do our best to fill the positions with the same kind of dynamic people we hired the first time around," Erwin said.
