BHS Business Education Teacher Honored with Educator Award
Lorraine Wicklund will be presented with the first Educator Award presented by the Berlin Economic Development Commission.

From Berlin HS: Lorraine Wicklund, a business education teacher at Berlin High School, will be presented with the first Educator Award presented by the Town of Berlin Economic Development Commission at their annual awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 24th.
Ms. Wicklund is a graduate of Berlin High School, where she received the business education award. She has taught business education since 1983, joining the Berlin High School staff in 2003. She has served as Business Club advisor, class advisor, cheered students on courts and fields, chaperoned trips, and coordinated many field trips. She participates in activities with the Connecticut Society of CPAs (CTCPA), including bringing a student to a forensic accountant event. She is active with Junior Achievement of Southwest New England where she has coordinated numerous job shadows for students at Microsoft, Comcast, VOYA, and NBC; is involved with the Junior Achievement Entrepreneurial Academy; and has attended the National Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. with students over the past two years.
Ms. Wicklund’s Accounting II students have been ranked number one in the state for three years in a row on the State of Connecticut Accounting Test. As a BHS DECA mentor, she attended the DECA International Conference in Anaheim, California this past April with students who competed in various areas including marketing, finance, and accounting. When asked about her proudest achievement, Ms. Wicklund indicated that it is motivating students.
