Delorenzo Signed, Sealed and Delivered

Berlin's all-time leading rusher officially signs with UConn.

Max Delorenzo, the all-time leading rusher for Berlin High School, signed his National Letter of Intent Wednesday to attend the University of Connecticut and continue his football career.

"There was never really any wavering even after the coaching change," Delorenzo said in an interview last week. "I met Coach Pasqualoni at the All-State dinner and really liked him."

Pasqualoni likes what he has seen of Delorenzo on tape.

"Max Delorenzo from Berlin High School, here in Connecticut, is a big back at 6-foot and 200 pounds," Pasqualoni said at the signing ceremony at the XL Center in Hartford Wednesday. "He is a superior downhill power runner. He gives us the feature of having a big back.

"In the film I've seen he gets a lot of yards after contact. He's big and explosive. He's difficult to take down with an arm tackle. He's also got deceiving speed and can break one to the outside. He is very good at starting in a hole and breaking it to the outside. He might not look quick but he never gets caught from behind."
