Former Berlin Town Planner Makes Sexual Harassment Claim

A former town planner has filed a lawsuit claiming town officials failed to respond to sexual harassment complaints.

BERLIN, CT - Hellyn Riggins, the town's former development director and planner, has taken the town to federal court claiming that the town failed to respond after she made a sexual harassment complaint about a local developer, the Hartford Courant reported. Riggins worked for the town from 2003 until 2017.

Riggins said in a lawsuit that developer Thomas Coccomo repeatedly made false accusations in email, letters and conversation that she was sexually involved with other employees.

When she reported the harassment to town officials, she said they failed to respond adequately. Town officials did not comment on the case.
