Hip Hop Icon Stops By CT Liquor Store
A rapper with ties to the state appeared at an event Friday.
WATERBURY, CT — Curtis James Jackson III, better known as rapper 50 Cent, made an appearance at Wine N Liquor on Lakewood Road in Waterbury Friday. 50 Cent was there signing bottles of cognac and champagne as hundreds lined up to take a photo with him, according to The Waterbury Republican-American.
The DJ played 5o Cent's hit song "Candy Shop" while people were waiting in line.
"Thank you to everyone for such an amazing event last night with 50 Cent," the liquor store hosting the event posted on Facebook. "We all appreciate your support so much. No negativity, no issues. Everyone in line got in. And 50 stayed until they did. Everything went as perfect as we could have hoped for. What a great night for the city of Waterbury!"

50 Cent's sprawling, 52,000 square-foot Farmington mansion was sold for $2.9 million in April after being on the market for dozens of years. He had acquired the property for $4.1 million in 2003 from former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson. Following extensive renovation, the property was first listed in 2007 for $18 million, and was on and off the market several times since then, with drastic price reductions.
During his career, 50 Cent has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. He has won a Grammy, 13 Billboard Music Awards, six World Music Awards, and four BET Awards. He was also ranked as the sixth-best artist of the 2000s by Billboard.
