Kohl's Will Open Sunday

While the Berlin Kohl’s Department Stores will officially open the doors of three new Connecticut locations in Berlin, Killingly and New Milford on Wednesday, Sept. 26 with a ribbon cutting ceremony, the Berlin store will open Sunday, Sept. 23 according to banners on the store windows.

The Berlin store, at 245 Berlin Turnpike, will create approximately 375 local jobs. The stores will offer shoppers a variety of ways to get exceptional values on the quality brands they love. The new stores bring the total number of Kohl’s stores in Connecticut to 21.
 
The official grand opening is Wednesday, September 26

• 6:30 a.m. – Media check-in with store manager        
• 6:45 a.m. – Ribbon cutting ceremony           
• 7:00 a.m. – Official store opening

There will be comments from Kohl’s executives and invited local officials, a ribbon cutting ceremony and then residents get to shop Kohl’s world class brands.
 
All new Kohl’s stores opening this fall feature innovative store designs and new enhancements to provide customers an exciting and comfortable shopping environment. Some of these features include updated check-out stations, newly designed shopping carts and strollers, innovative fixtures in cosmetics, upgraded fitting rooms throughout the store with fitting room lounges in Misses and Juniors, an expanded customer service area relocated to the front of the store in most locations, in-store Kohl’s Kiosks, electronic signs in all departments and Wi-Fi throughout the store.
 
In addition, the Berlin and Killingly stores were built according to a prototype that received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification at the Gold level from the U.S. Green Building Council. Characteristics include: recycled and regionally sourced building materials; water-efficient landscaping and plumbing fixtures; improved indoor air quality through increased fresh air ventilation and use of an ENERGY STAR-rated roof.
