Last Day of School in Berlin Will Be June 20

There will also be school on April 1.

Berlin Superintendent of Schools David B. Erwin said that he is hoping the worse of the winter weather is behind the town and has set the final day of school for all Berlin schools at June 20. And although he can't set the official graduation date until after April 1, it looks like the seniors will graduate on Sunday, June 23.

April 1, which was going to be a teacher's professional day, will now be a full day of school. April vacation remains the same and is the week of April 15-19.

"As you are aware, we had an early dismissal, a late opening and seven days where schools were closed," Erwin said. "Taking into consideration the large number of closings this year, the Board of Education voted to amend this year's school calendar and has reduced the number of student days to 181 (the state mandated number is 180) as opposed to 183."

Erwin added that this schedule is predicated on the premise that therw will be no more school closings. If there are school closures, the make-up days would be added onto the end of the year.
