Mariana Morales Earns Berlin Police Chief's Achievement Award
She helped her friend who became ill on the bus.

On December 3, 2012 while riding home on the late bus, Mariana Morales noticed that her friend did not feel well. Ms. Morales asked her friend to lay down in hopes this would make her feel better. Shortly after, her friend sat up and passed out. Ms. Morales laid her friend down and grabbed her cell phone to call 911. After placing the call, she alerted the bus driver so he could pull over. Ms. Morales then called the parents of her friend and directed them to the location of the bus.
Once medical personnel arrived, Ms. Morales remained with her friend and provided the ambulance personnel with all of her friend’s biographical information, as her friend was not able to do so.

On account of the bravery and courageous behavior that she demonstrated in this situation, Ms. Morales is recognized for her civic valor. The calm demeanor that she demonstrated when faced with this crisis is to be commended. Ms. Morales is hereby presented with the Berlin Police Department Chief’s Achievement Award.
