New Britain Man Indicted For Cocaine, Fentanyl Dealing: Feds

A New Britain man is facing charges that he sold cocaine and fentanyl.

NEW BRITAIN, CT — A New Britain man has been indicted on four counts for fentanyl and cocaine crimes and faces up to life in prison, according to a statement from federal prosecutors.

Jose Miguel Vega-Rivera, 49, a citizen of the Dominican republic living in New Britain, was indicted for one count each of possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl, and one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

According to prosecutors, DEA Task Force investigators stopped a car Vega-Rivera was traveling in April 27 after he sold cocaine to another person in the vehicle. Police then searched Vega-Rivera's car and found about one kilogram of fentanyl, more than 500 grams of cocaine, two firearms, and $55,000 in cash.

Vega, who has been detained since his arrest on April 27, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
