Historic Berlin Store To Close After 140 Years In Business
An iconic local store will close later this month.

BERLIN, CT - A.S. Labieniec's pet supply store will close Feb. 28 after 140 years in business. The store's owners said that growing competition from big box stores and online shopping means they're unable to compete, according to the store's social media page.
"We have been blessed to meet wonderful people and their pets which was a blessing in itself," the owners wrote in a social media post.
The store's home is still the barn it was opened in 140 years ago at 945 Farmington Road in Kensington. Labieniec's sold pet food and supplies, gardening equipment, bird feeders and animal feed.
