The Eighth Annual MPO Peter J. Lavery Memorial Run is being held on Sunday, Sept. 16. Â
This event will have a new location this year, starting and ending at Churchill Park, Newington. It will feature an opening ceremony, a 30 mile police escorted motorcycle ride through eight surrounding towns that has drawn as many as 800 motorcycles, and refreshments and music at the conclusion of the ride.Â

This year’s ride sponsors include: Stew Leonard’s, Brown Development Corp., Shark Entertainment, Omar Coffee Company, General Paving & Construction Corp., Reality Workwear, Pronto Printer of Newington, Inc., Newington Outback Steakhouse, Trantolo & Trantolo, LLC, Town of Newington Parks & Recreation Dept., and the Newington Police Department. Â
T-shirts will be available for sale at the ride and also at the following locations: CT Police Supply on Fenn Road in Newington, Mickey Finn’s Honda on the Berlin Turnpike in Berlin, Gengras Harley-Davidson on Governor Street in East Hartford, and Greater Hartford Police Supply on Weston Street in Hartford.

Registration is from 8 until 9:45 a.m. The ride departs at 10 a.m. from Churchill Park located at 1991 Main Street, Newington. A $20 donation per bike is requested. All law enforcement supporters on all makes of bikes are welcome. All proceeds benefit the Peter J. Lavery Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc.Â
